Abstract :
The growth of multiple epitaxial YIG film structures using epitaxial GGG spacer layers is described. Samarium doping of the epitaxial GGG was used to reduce its lattice mismatch with the GGG substrate to < 0.002Å and both double and triple YIG films were grown on 50 mm diameter GGG substrates. Measured and calculated results for magnetostatic wave propagation in three different examples are given, i.e., FVWs in double and triple YIG layer structures and BVWs in a four YIG layer structure. In these cases agreement between measurements and calculations was excellent.
