Abstract :
We present in this paper a new method to detect the temperature distribution of a sintering bed by measuring the thickness of the sintered bed. This method is based on the fact that the sintered ore contains magnetite with its magnetic property and that the heat pattern depends on the thickness of the sintered bed. By getting a fluxgate magnetometer installed over the sintering bed and measuring the magnetic field deviation produced by the sintering bed, we can detect the thickness of the sintered bed and hence its temperature distribution directly and continuously, and improve the productivity and quality of the sintering process. For this application we have developed a new magnetometer, which has two cores wire-wound differentially to cancel the background magnetic field and made of Mo-Permalloy sheet.
