Abstract :
The three-dimensional eddy current package CARMEN is based on an algorithm using the modified magnetic vector potential to model the electromagnetic field solution within conducting regions, and the magnetic scalar potential in nonconducting regions. Here, it is extended to solve the general 3-D transient eddy-current problem by regarding the solution to transient problems as a special form of the more general multi-case problem, along with multiple frequencies and moving drive coils. The postprocessor OPERA has been extended to allow fully interactive post-analysis of the multi-case solutions. A discussion of the new features is given, along with examples of its use on the TEAM benchmark problems
