Abstract :
We have investigated the training of epoxy-impregnated superconducting coils. It has been observed that the boundary conditions at the coil ends have a crucial effect on shear-stress-induced epoxy cracks in the winding and consequently on the coil training. The results were quatified using acoustic emission data.
