Abstract :
Profiles are presented of six EEs who set their sights on new niches in the wake of cutbacks in defense spending. These engineers had varying experiences and lessons are drawn from these experiences. They suggest trying to make the transition before it is an emergency, not getting too specialized, and continuing to develop one´s skills.<>
