Abstract :
A prototype free precession magnetometer is described which uses a SQUID to detect the precessing nuclear magnetisation of a sample of3He. The expected sensitivity is compared with that of a simple SQUID . Other advantages to be gained from this low noise absolute magnetometer are also discussed.
