Abstract
A novel pulse-width-modulation (PWM) technique, based on linear functions that are easy to implement over FPGA and take up little hardware resources, is presented. The technique generates high-quality voltages with very few commutations per cycle and is highly efficient in reducing commutation loss. It has been implemented, tested and compared to other PWM techniques and results show that it yields a better quality signal with only a quarter of commutations per cycle.
