Abstract :
Summary form only given. Data obtained from experiments on decerebrate cats during fictive and real scratching and locomotion is discussed. It is concluded that central pattern generators are the regimens of optimal motor control system functioning and that the presence of the intrinsic model of the object in such a system is the natural consequence of its optimality. The spinal optimal control system is capable of controlling movements of both postural and rhythmic types by using the same functional mechanism.<>
