Abstract :
Time-base distortions are modelled with a linear, time-invariant system plus an uncorrelated but signal-dependent disturbing noise. The signal/noise ratio (SNR) in this model is computed and the theoretical results are compared with laboratory measurements of flutter effects in analogue magnetic recorders.
