Abstract :
The paper describes the performance of an isolated self-excited single phase induction generator when the excitation capacitor is connected to one winding and the load is connected to the other. Depending upon the equivalent circuit, nonlinear simultaneous equations of the magnetisation reactance and operation frequency, have been used for computer simulation of the two cases. Newton Rhapson numerical methods have been found suitable for the solution of the equations. Computer results have been supported by laboratory tests. The models have been used to study the effect of machine parameters on the general performance of the machine
