Abstract :
Connection admission control (CAC) for heterogeneous variable bit rate (VBR) video traffic in an ATM network is proposed. In the proposed method, AR model traffic is assumed and moments of aggregated traffic are computed using moments of each traffic. The authors then approximate aggregated traffic by a 2-state Markov modulated Poisson process (MMPP) and compute the modified equivalent capacity using the 2-state MMPP parameters. CAC is achieved by the modified equivalent capacity
