Abstract :
A novel dispersion-reduction technique using subcarrier multiplexing and optical prefiltering is described. Measured results from a data link demonstrate that a pair of independent 2.5 Gbit/s data channels can be transmitted over ⩾100 km of ordinary single-mode fibre-optic cable at 1550 nm with negligible dispersion
