Abstract :
A new developed composite wire consisting of the alloys 49 wt.%Co-2V-Fe and 47Ni-Fe was investigated in comparison with the Wiegand wire. By means of the B-H loop, induced pulse voltage and velocity of flux reversal the requirements for fast remagnetization of short wires are discussed. In this connection the stabilization of a single domain at the ends of the wire proves to be the decisive factor. In a pickup coil the wire generates peak voltages up to 5 mV/turn without special driving conditions. Only a minimum bipolar field of 30 A/cm must be attained for operation.
