Abstract :
Three conditions are proposed to examine the efficiency of decoding PAL signals based on a certain sampling structure. Analysis shows that the fs =4fsc is the best structure for digital PAL decoding, and there still exists potential of improvement on 4fsc decoder, A new comb filter is then developed, which can reduce both delay units and their throughput rates by half, and therefore make the decoder cost-effective.
