Abstract :
The question of how to create optimal experimental conditions for identification and characterization of viscoelastic materials is considered. By calculating the determinant of the covariance matrix for the estimated material parameters, the influence of the choice of input signal, the number of sensors, and their positions are investigated through a D-optimal design. The results of this brief can be used to design experiments which improve the quality of the estimates.
