Abstract
Significant improvements have been made in recent years in the performance, reliability and operating temperature range of 3-volt primary lithium cell systems. Because of their excellent characteristics, especially their long life, they are not only being used in devices in which they are consumer replaceable, but also in devices in which they are hard wired and expected to last the useful life of the device. Thus, a new option is now available to the device designer who needs to incorporate a small power source in his design. Typical coin cells which can be supplied with customized terminals for hand or wave soldering are shown in Figure 1.
