Abstract
This correspondence discusses a novel method of determining linearly independent volumetric rotational basis functions as employed, for instance, in the method of moments integral equation formulation. The method allows us to remove all unnecessary basis functions, thereby eliminating the matrix singularity, reducing memory requirements, and improving execution time. The method does not require any algebraic manipulations, but instead relies on a "count one-by-one" approach to find all necessary functions.
