Abstract :
A position signal of excellent quality, free from media defects, is essential to the operation of a disk file access servomechanism. Described are two methods that address at high and low actuator velocities, respectively, the failure mechanisms of a disk file access servomechanism attributable to media defects. The resultant immunity permits improved accessing reliability with media of imperfect quality.
