Abstract
Techniques for the automatic generation and adaptive control of finite element models for both two and three-dimensional domains are presented. The algorithmic approaches to automatic mesh generation and the approaches for adaptively improving finite element meshes are discussed. The integration of these procedures with solid modeling is also considered.
