Abstract :
The large-bore, high field superconducting magnet of the Test Facility SULTAN (1 m diameter, 8 T) is surrounded by a number of iron parts. The different forces generated have been calculated using 3-D field maps obtained by the GFUN code. Calculated and measured values of the forces are reported. The Facility has become operational in June 1983.
