Abstract :
A method for generating tetrahedra for the open boundary 3-D FEM (finite element method) in magnetic field analyses is proposed that uses two algorithms: topological mapping for a multimedia region including cores and coils, and a multilayer space dividing the air region surrounding the media region. The former region usually has complicated geometric shape, and requires dense distribution of elements; the latter requires elements to become gradually coarser towards the outside. Combining these two algorithms greatly decreases the processing time and generation of a suitable mesh density for tetrahedra becomes easy
