Abstract :
Channel 6 and FM station signals across the country have been battling for years for supremacy in the picture of a television receiver. Since April 1976, with the publication of Notice of Proposed Rule Making, Docket 20735, the FCC has been attempting to define the protection ratio between FM and Ch. 6; and to deal with the ever increasing backlog of applications for noncomnercial, educational FM broadcast stations which would occupy the 88-92 MHz band, the major area for sources of interference to TV receivers.
