Abstract :
An experimental investigation into the feasibility of using an ambient temperature low-field (12.5 - 20 kOe) magnetizing treatment on precipitation hardened high coercive force 2-17 type permanent magnet materials has been demonstrated. The technique evaluated is highly successful on magnets whose composition and aging heat treatment normally require moderately high (25 - 40 kOe) magnetizing field levels for saturation in the virgin state. The preparatory cyclic magnetization - demagnetization procedure described can readily be accomplished with standard equipment.
