Abstract :
Barkhausen noise power measurements were performed on several types of GO SiFe sheets featuring various cross-sectional areas, grain misorientations, macroscopic misorientations with respect to the rolling direction, and scribing intervals. The results are compared with the predictions of a simple phenomenological model. Misorientation results in a strong depression of the noise level, which can be attributed to a decrease in the instantaneous rate of change of the magnetic flux during jumps, due to increased demagnetising effects. Scribing also reduces the noise, especially for low-frequency magnetising fields, due to the breaking of spatial correlation between jumps.
