  • Abstract
    In monitoring remote unmanned sites using a visual system, it is generally adequate to transmit low-resolution pictures. Also, it is not necessary to transmit every picture frame captured by the video camera. By reducing the bandwidth requirements of the image transmission, we can use the existing telephone network to transmit a frame within a time period which is acceptable for monitoring purposes.
