Abstract
Until now, for studying mode-coupling effects in optical fibres, many coupling coefficients have been proposed theoretically assuming a coupling mechanism is dominant. However, recent experimental studies have showed a rather intricate behaviour for those coefficients. In these circumstances, in the estimation of the magnitudes of various coupling mechanisms and the interaction among them, this letter calculates coupling-induced losses for some coupling coefficients based upon the experimental results.
