Abstract
The goal of this paper is to determine the values of the optimum switchable LC compensators for maximum power factor or minimum transmission loss for nonlinear loads where the source harmonic voltages, load impedance and the Thevenin impedance are time varying. All the source harmonic voltages follow the same pattern. Also, a simple time variation for the Thevenin impedance is assumed. A significant part of the load consists from induction motors. The performance of the obtained compensator is discussed by means of numerical examples
