Abstract :
Previous work showed that the transmission loss of step-index phosphosilicate fibre is dependent upon the draw tension. Similar experiments with graded-index germanium-borosilicate fibres do not show the same dependence over a range of tension from 5 g to 100 g and a range of draw speeds from 0.25 m/s to 5 m/s.
