An Overview of Current DBS Situation in Japan

Potential advantage of satellite broadcasting have been sought by many countries over the past decade. In Japan, satellite broadcasting has been planned to make advantage of such possibilities as eliminating reception difficulties of conventional terrestrial services in rural areas, and providing new services, especially future services like HDTV, PCM sounds, still picture and various data broadcasting.
