Abstract :
With nuclear energy now in vogue and governments dragging their heels about new build, the prospect of extending the plant life of existing reactors starts to look attractive. In order to meet energy needs governments around the globe are planning for reactors built 30 years ago to be kept running for another 30 years - twice their original design life.
