Abstract
Measurements of the magnetic permeability aftereffect and of the saturation magnetostriction were performed on different amorphous ribbons submitted to various tensile stresses, to study the influence of elastic deformation of the samples on the intensity of the aftereffect. In magnetostrictive alloys, both the magnetostriction and the aftereffect are shown to be significantly reduced by large stresses. The results are discussed in the light of the existing models for the after-effect.
