Applying the IN-service life cycle process to UPT

The authors describe the implementation of UPT using an integrated IN service life cycle process. To achieve the full potential of IN, operating companies must establish a process similar to the processes used by switch manufacturers in developing traditional services. The operating companies´ OAM infrastructure may be modernized using the framework described. Properly structuring service life cycle processes will result in an efficient exchange of management information and an increase in the flexibility of the network, and will enable the evolution of IN technologies and IN-based services.<>
