Abstract :
There has been increasing awareness of the problems of acid rain and the need to reduce sulphur dioxide emissions from power stations. The retrofitting of flue gas desulphurisation equipment to Drax power station is a major part of the emission reduction programme in the UK, and at £700 million is National Power´s largest capital project. This article concentrates on three aspects of the project: electrical supplies, the FGD plant distributed control system and railway signalling
