Abstract :
An integrate-and-dump filter operating at 1 Gbit/s has been demonstrated. For NRZ signal pulses, noise filtering with the I&D circuit the same error rate performance as an 800 MHz lowpass filter. Unlike the lowpass filter, the I&D filter can reduce the degradation caused by certain kinds of timing jitter, and introduces no intersymbol interference. This I&D filter was built to reduce the effect of signal-pulse jitter in a zero-IF coherent optical transmission experiment.
