Abstract :
The performance of transform coding of motion-compensated prediction errors is poor, mainly due to the characteristics of prediction errors with low correlations. The authors propose a two-source decomposition scheme which increases the correlation of prediction errors, and a combined transform of DCT-WHT for decomposed prediction errors. The performance of the proposed algorithm is also compared to the existing classical and adaptive DCTs.
