Abstract
The coupling between an electromagnetic field and a braided-shielded cable is analyzed using a numerical approach. Penetration of the magnetic field through the shield and apertures is described by the homogeneous Helmholtz equation in terms of the magnetic vector potential. A procedure based on the FEM (finite element method) is developed for a two-dimensional region. Absorbing boundary conditions in artificial boundaries are introduced to limit the area of FEM calculation. Numerical results are in agreement with the analytical solution for a test problem
