Abstract :
A 1.3 mu m travelling-waveoptical preamplifier together with a Fabry-Perot filter and a pinFET receiver has demonstrated a receiver sensitivity of -29.5 dBm at a bit rate of 8 Gbit/s. This is 3.7 dB better than the best result reported for an APD receiver operating at 8 Gbit/s.
