Abstract :
The simultaneous transmission and amplification of baseband 622 Mbit/s, 10 FM NTSC video channels and three FM HDTV components, subcarrier multiplexed on one wavelength, using a high gain erbium doped fibre amplifier is reported. The full menu was successfully transmitted over 15 km of fibre, and distributed to 8192 terminals. A system power budget of 49.5 dB was measured for an amplifier gain of 31.5 dB.
