Abstract :
A novel numerical calculation method for an electrical circuit containing a skin-effect element is proposed. In the method, the skin-effect element is analyzed with the finite-element method, and Bergeron´s method is used for analyzing the electrical circuit. Then, the two methods are combined, treating the skin effect elements as an equivalent current source, and the calculation stability of Bergeron´s method is improved. The method is used for the calculation of a new apparatus for suppressing the commutation overshoot oscillation in distribution systems, and it is shown that the method is highly accurate
