The R
2Fe
14-xSi
xB compounds with R = Pr, Nd, or Er and

crystallize in the Nd
2Fe
14B tetragonal structure. The Curie temperature increases by ∼ 17 K when one iron atom is substituted by silicon. In the high iron-concentration range the saturation magnetization decreases according to simple dilution behavior. For silicon content higher than

a rather large variation of the mean iron moments is observed. The anisotropy fields of Pr- and Nd-based compounds are only slightly dependent on composition. A variation of the spin-reorientation temperature in Nd
2Fe
14-xSi
xB and Er
2Fe
14-xSi
xB compounds is shown. The magnetic behavior of the compounds studied is analyzed and correlated with their crystalline structures.
