Abstract :
Arrays of Josephson junctions can be used as voltage tunable oscillators at millimeter and submillimeter wavelengths. However proper circuit design is required to achieve the phase-locking of the junctions required for coherent radiation. The design of arrays of Josephson junctions distributed over many wavelengths is discussed and data are presented on the strength of the phase-locking in these systems. With proper design and optimization substantial power at frequencies above 100 GHz is predicted.
