Abstract :
A theoretical investigation for the distribution of the current around a moving spot in a flux pump has been analyzed. A quasi-static approach has been used to obtain the governing equations for the current distribution. Numerical solutions of these equations by means of a successive over-relaxation technique yields the location of the normal spot in the flux pump at which the current ahead of the moving spot jumps to the back of the spot. The results of these calculations are used to interpret the drooping voltage-current characteristics of flux pumps, as well as, the occurrence of parasitic oscillations.
