Abstract :
The author describes how sootblowing is used for in-service cleaning of the fireside surface of boiler tubes. The sootblowing system is one of the principal reasons for the high availability of power station boilers. Here, the author shows how the use of compressed air for sootblowing, rather than steam, can give added benefits to power-station efficiency in both economic and technical terms
