Abstract :
The authors describe comparative results of direct (eigenanalysis) and indirect (Prony analysis) methods for generating frequency-domain data for power system control design. The two methods are described briefly and important input data constants are discussed. The methods are applied to the same model, a medium-scale model of the Midcontinent Area Power Pool (MAPP). Modal parameters (frequencies and damping) and transfer function poles and zeros are compared as calculated by the two methods
