Abstract :
With the aid of a reciprocity relation relating the magnetic scalar potential and the magnetic flux density of quasi-static magnetic fields, an alternative expression for the read flux of a magnetic recording head is derived. It expresses the magnetic read flux in terms of the distributions of the magnetic scalar potential of the head´s write field in the front plane of the head and the normal component of a magnetic flux density, which has the recorded magnetization pattern as its source and reflects into the head´s front plane.
