Abstract :
MODELS is a general-purpose symbolic language implemented in the Electromagnetic Transients Program (EMTP). This tool offers a new approach for observing and controlling a system represented by an EMTP code and provides a flexibility for performing numerical and logical manipulations of variables. This paper outlines some of the main features of MODELS and illustrates its application for studying the dynamic performance of rotating machines. The paper emphasizes the educational use of MODELS for the study of machine transients
