We have designed and are building a high field Two-Mode (TM) superferric dipole magnet for particle accelerators. At low field it behaves as a ferric magnet while at high field as a

magnet. While the magnet can go up to any field as can a

magnet (limited by superconductor performance), the use of iron and rectangular rather than radial geometry retains the advantages of low field ferric magnets: substantial superconductor saving, more reliable operation, and easy fabrication.
