Abstract
The elementary pinning force for an isolated yortex has been measured, and procedures have been developed for systematically moving the vortex back and forth across a Josephson junction. Changes in the current-voltage curves for the Josephson junction as the vortex changes position provide an easy way to read out the location of the vortex.
