Abstract
A model for magnetic switch operation in pulsed power circuits is developed. The system state equations are written to incorporate the measured low-frequency B -H loop of the magnetic core material when calculating the diffusion of the magnetic field into the core. The current and voltage responses at the switch terminals are calculated to integrate the response of the magnetic switch into the electrical system. Additionally, the energy losses and the distribution of the losses among various contributing mechanisms are calculated. Comparisons between simulated and experimental data are presented, along with energy loss information derived from the simulation
