            Abstract :
This paper presents a tunable, microspectrometer, based upon a Bragg diffraction grating structure, capable of operating in the infrared region of the optical spectrum, nominally 1-10 mum. A 10% tunability and 45% absorptivity is reported for a 2.75-mum free space wavelength microspectrometer. It is shown that by changing the position of a reflecting plane below the Bragg grating, there is a change in the absorption wavelength and absorptivity, thereby realizing a tunable spectrometer. The power absorbed is investigated as a function of reflector position using the finite difference time domain method.
